Staying domestic for Semana Santa ....

To the Canary Island of Tenerife!!!!!!!

After much deliberation about what game plan would be the most economically friendly, one that ticks a box and takes total advantage of our whole week off (especially since this is my last real juicy break before heading back to the States) we searched flights, busses, trains, car rentals, ferries .... basically every mode of transportation we could think of; I finally stumbled across a GREAT deal to go to the Canary Islands! Within minutes we booked our tickets and were on the hunt for a great place to crash at an ideal location.

Definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity to just pop on over to some tropical exotic dream paradise island in the Atlantic on a whim because it was the most affordable vacation option!

AHHH SO PUMPED!

In case you were wondering here's a little bit about Tenerife:

The Canary Islands are a group of seven Spanish islands off the coast of Africa: Tenerife (where I'm going) is the largest island.

Third from the left - and if you think it looks massive; think again. From the airport in the northern part of the island to the bottom tip of the south is a 51 minute drive!

But on this tiny island there is so much to see!

My To Do List for the week:

• Go to the top of El Tiede;
• which is the highest point in Spain at 12,198 feet high, it is the volcano at the center of the island, which I hope to get to the top of because they say the views are unbeatable!
• Spend a day on a black sand beach;
• Being a tiny island with a ginormous volcano right in the middle, there are miles and miles of natural beaches that are all volcanic (black) sand.
• Go to Loro Park;
• which is like a Sea World type of display of trained sea life and aquarium: a must see on my list of things to do in Tenerife!
• Go scuba diving with the  sea turtles
• Hike through the beautiful Masca Valley
• Explore the lush green north and lay on the white sandy beaches in the south

Just can't wait!!!!!

And we still have the weekend to enjoy the most famous celebration in the Catholic world: Semana Santa, where the biggest Easter processions and parties are held right here in MALAGA!
