My journey in this unpredictable life as a New Yorker living on the southern coast of Spain

Things that would never happen in NYC but happen in Spain: Part 3

so, it's been a while since my last posts on this topic (See: Part 1 and Part 2) but I have definitely been keeping track of all the new and different phenomenon here in Spain!

So to continue from my last list.....
10. I mentioned in an earlier post that the women here in Southern Spain are obsessed with heels, of any kind; boots, wedges, stappy sandals - every shoe seems to have some sort of heel!
And it doesn't stop with dressy shoes; it even includes rainboots!!

That's right ladies and gentlemen - a rainboot with a heel. Doesn't get any classier than that.

11. Another thing that has befuddled all my visitors has been the eggs and milk in the supermarkets.
Here it is common to find box milk that is not refrigerated until after opened, and eggs to not be in the fridge when you buy them.
Box Milk just chillin (well, not chillin in the fridge)
People usually buy it in bulk since you can store it before you open it for the first time

Dozen (brown) eggs waiting to be purchased, on a shelf; not refridgerated.

But in the end it all tastes fine to me!

12. Sidewalks. Or should I say lack thereof.

It can get pretty tight when more than one person needs to squeeze  by!

This is a typical narrow, busted, usually poo/urine covered (human or dog, the source is unknown especially after a wild weekend in the city centre) "sidewalk" that people are expected to walk on while cars squeeze their ways through these incredibly narrow streets. Most of the time I end up just walking in the street until a car comes by.

And on these narrow roads and improvised parking spots it is no surprise that Spaniards are much less conservative about the condition of their car. The Spainiards here believe; bumpers are for bumping! So, no harm no foul if the fender of a nearby parked car gets dinged, or a side mirror falls off. No pasa nada!

Definitely some things you would never see in NY!
